David King has been appointed chief executive of Time Out Group, taking over the day-to-day running from founder and chairman Tony Elliott.
King – former chief finance officer at BBC Worldwide – joined Time Out as chief finance officer last summer.
He will now oversee the whole company, which publishes listings in 28 countries.
King has been a non-executive director of DVD publisher 2 Entertain, and TV operator UKTV.
Elliott, who founded Time Out in 1968, will remain as chairman and ‘brand guardian”.
Time Out London had an average circulation of 76,356 in the first half of 2008, according to ABC.
