Daily Mail editor-in-chief Paul Dacre paid £1.5m in 2007

Daily Mail editor-in-chief Paul Dacre was paid almost £1.5m last year, up from £1.23m in 2006, according to the Daily Mail and General Trust annual report, published this morning.

His salary for 2007 was £1.034m. He also received a cash allowance of £443,000 as a result of him opting out of the DMGT Senior Executives Pension Fund, and benefits in kind of £17,000.

Dacre, 59, also holds £0.8m in DMGT shares.

In 2006, Dacre’s basic salary was £985,000, with £204,000 in cash allowances and £45,000 of benefits in kind.
