The Cumberland News is launching a monthly magazine supplement covering education in Cumbria.
Learning comes free with the Carlisle-based weekly broadsheet and includes news and features.
The 32-page magazine is edited by features editor Kath Smart, designed by deputy editor Richard Eccles and largely written by Eleanor Wilson. It also contains columns by prominent headteachers and college lecturers.
The launch was timed to coincide with a campaign to open a university in Cumbria, seen as a key element to improving its economy.
The Cumberland News’s editor, Keith Sutton, said: “The reaction we have had from the education world, the public, other local media and advertisers has been extremely encouraging and we are looking forward to the magazine becoming a key focus and forum for the challenges facing Cumbria.”
