Coventry Telegraph editor Darren Parkin has been suspended over his use of Twitter, according to a report in rival title the Coventry Observer.
It reported that Parkin ‘is understood to be being investigated by top brass of Trinity Mirror‘over his use Twitter, after concerns were raised by staff.
Staff were reportedly told on Thursday and Parkin was ‘escorted from the newspaper’s offices the previous afternoon”.
The Observer reports that Parkin, who tweeted under the usernamed @covteled), has been suspended on full pay pending the investigation, but adds that ‘few of his staff expect him to return to his job”.
Parkin is the former editor-in-chief of Trinity Mirror’s Coventry weeklies series and become Coventry Telegraph editor in 2009.
Trinity Mirror confirmed that a member of staff at the Telegraph had been suspended.
