A group of Tory backbench MPs have tabled a private members’ bill calling for the licence fee to be abolished.
According to Broadcast, the Broadcasting (Television Licence Fee Abolition) Bill has been sponsored by two members of the Commons media select committee, Nigel Evans and Philip Davies.
It will be opposed by Labour and the Lib Dems and is likely to be defeated at first reading on Friday.
