United Business Media’s CMP Information (CMPi) and CMP Europe are to merge, resulting in a change of office for staff, writes Ruth Addicott.
The move, in which the two divisions come under CMPi’s Property Group, will see up to 40 staff from CMP Europe transfer from their current offices in Chiswick to Ludgate House in London’s Blackfriars. A UBM spokesman said he was unable to comment on whether there would be any redundancies until a consultation process comes to an end next month.
CMP Europe publishes a number of B2B magazines aimed at the UK and European high-tech IT and games industries, including Call Centre Focus, Networks for Business and Technology for Marketing.
In the UK, Europe and US, CMPi’s portfolio is dedicated to the healthcare, property, entertainment, travel, agriculture and print sectors. Music Week, Travel Trade Gazette, Building Design and Chemist & Druggist are among its titles.
Bernard Gray, chief executive of CMPi, said the move would help drive the business forward. “In this dynamic environment, all efforts need to be pulled together to concentrate on developing and growing our business for the future,” he said.
“I believe this exciting development will allow us to reap the full benefits of our UK event groups working closely together once again.”
The move has also resulted in the departure of executive director for CMP Europe, Clive Ellings, who is leaving after six years to “pursue other interests”. Ellings will continue to work with CMPi executive director Paul Thandi, who is in charge of the property group, until the integration transition period is over.
