Welsh rugby legend JPR Williams took centre stage on Friday at the 21st birthday celebrations of the Glamorgan GEM, a 34,000-copy free newspaper in South Wales.
The GEM, with its three titles in Cowbridge, Llantwit Major and Barry, invited 200 guests to the Fonmon Castle for the festivities.
All the local dignitaries attended, but it was JPR Williams who stole the show when he helped at a charity auction. It raised thousands of pounds for the NSPCC’s work in South Wales, with the aid of a special bid on behalf of the paper’s staff by proprietor Sir Ray Tindle.
