British Press Awards records increased entries on last year

Just over 570 entries have been received for the British Press Awards, an increase by 40 on last year’s total.

The awards, which are now organised by Wilmington in association with Press Gazette, are held at Grosvenor House on 23 March. All of the major newspaper groups have submitted entries.

Today presenter John Humphrys is hosting this year’s event, which is also expected to feature a senior politician as a guest speaker.

The awards judging is again being chaired by director of the Society of Editors Bob Satchwell.

The shortlist will be revealed on www.pressgazette.co.uk at midday on 22 February. Press Gazette will also be providing live online coverage on the night.
