The attempts of the BBC’s flagship current affairs show Panorama to broaden its appeal has not gone down well with
traditionalists at the corporation.
Writing in the BBC’s in-house magazine Ariel about Panorama’s exposé on the premium-rate phone-in row, BBC TV news director Gordon Findlay said: “Panorama did a very good job at shaking up the TV quiz industry.â€
But the tabloid techniques didn’t go down at all well with Findlay, who adds pointedly: “It’s a shame they felt the need to make their cameras shake too.â€
