Speaking of putting journalists out to pasture, that’s exactly what
Bill Gates reckons on doing to… well, the entire print publishing
industry.
Pretty soon, perhaps within a decade, all our readers
will be wandering around with electronic paper, or computer ‘tablets’
constantly connected to the internet. So says Mr Microsoft.
It’s
another prediction of the death of the newspaper – in the same week
that a Goldman Sachs report predicted further gloom for the American
market. And this time it comes from somebody who has a pretty good
track record.
The only thing he doesn’t mention is who, exactly, will be writing all the stories.
