BBC workers are to stage a 24-hour strike in a row over compulsory redundancies at the corporation.
Last week NUJ representatives from across the BBC unanimously backed strike action in response to the corporation's refusal to back down on plans for five journalists to be made redundant under what it termed its "value for money efficiency savings".
The broadcasting workers union Bectu said the walkout will be held on 26 February after members voted in favour of industrial action. The strike action could affect news programmes with further industrial action proposed for the following three days.
More than 100 staff within BBC News are understood to be seeking voluntary redundancy under the current wave of staff cutbacks across the corporation.
