Real Radio Yorkshire's news editor, James Rea, is leaving the station to join the BBC as a senior broadcast journalist at Radio 1's Newsbeat.
Rea has been a part of GMG Radio since it launched in 2000 and set up the first newsroom in Real Radio Wales.
Most recently, Rea and his team at Real Radio Yorkshire received two Arqiva Awards and a Sony nomination for their news work.
Rea said: "I'm incredibly proud of what we've achieved at GMG Radio. The team is one of the best in the business, so it's with a whole bundle of emotions that I move on. The opportunity to work on Newsbeat is a dream and I'm looking forward to joining the Radio 1 family."
