Fighting for quality news media in the digital age.

BBC journalist killed in car crash

By Press Gazette

Television journalist Tricia Williamson has died in a car crash, the BBC said today.

Mother-of-two Williamson, 52, of Harleston, Norfolk, died in an accident on Friday.

She had worked on various shows, including Inside Out, London Tonight, BBC Look North and ITN‘s lunchtime news – as a producer, director and reporter.

Police said her green Ford Fiesta left the B1116 at Weybread, Suffolk, and came to a halt in a field.

Williamson, who was married, was pronounced dead at the scene, a Suffolk Police spokeswoman said.

Paul Woolwich, a BBC executive producer who had been working with Williamson, said: “We’re deeply saddened by this news.

“Tricia was a fine filmmaker who was at the peak of her abilities, adored by everyone she worked with.
