BBC Magazines has denied that Sly Bailey’s Trinity Mirror has
poached a large number of journalists from the company in order to
start a listings magazine to rival a similar BBC launch.
According to industry reports, Trinity is planning to hit newsstands with the title later this year.
A BBC spokesman said the Trinity title would not be going head to head with a BBC listings launch.
He
added: “No staff have been poached from BBC Magazines to work at
Trinity Mirror. Like all good consumer magazine publishers, BBC
Magazines is always researching and discussing new ideas that readers
will like.
“Last year we employed a small team of four to work on
developing an idea which was later dropped as not being viable. As a
result, the four people left Worldwide last November.”
