The Coventry Evening Telegraph launched an appeal that ensured every
child in hospital and in care in Coventry and Warwickshire received an
egg for Easter.
Newspaper staff helped to distribute the eggs for its “Eggs 4 Kids”
appeal, which was boosted by donations from local businesses.
Further
donations were made for young people who care for ill or disabled
relatives and to children living in one of the city’s refuges.
Editor Alan Kirby said: “It’s a simple but very effective community campaign that brings some happiness to children.
“Our
readers have always taken this appeal to their hearts and we were
delighted this year by the great response shown by local companies.”
