The
launch of the American version of Al Jazeera has been postponed – again.
Originally slated to be launched in May, it is not now expected to start up before
much later in the year. It is still striving to persuade American advertisers
and most important American viewers that it is not a “terrorist affiliated”
network. As for a distributor in the US, only the satellite based Dish
Network has so far shown any interest in carrying the service. Originally Al
Jazeera International , which signed up several top journalists including Sir
David Frost in anticipation, had hoped to reach several million households in
the US.
