The centre spread by Bill Borrows on the influence of Hunter S
Thompson was a fitting tribute to one of the most original writers of
his generation.
In much the same way as Borrows, I was influenced
by the addictive writing of Thompson and his ability to make the prose
burn with constant zest and sparkle.
His journalism was fuelled
by an indignance and passion that has been the inspiration for many
wannabe journalists past and present and is testament to the fact that,
no matter what level you start at, this profession has endless creative
possibilities and that writing will always have the ability to inspire
and entertain.
