The Connexion, the monthly English-language newspaper for France, is looking for a full-time designer with newspaper experience. The job is based near Nice, on the south coast of France. Knowledge of French would be an advantage but is not essential. The successful candidate must be able to work on all aspects of design – from print and web adverts to news and feature pages in QuarkXpress. Closing date: 20 September. Job location: Near Nice, France.

BBC news is looking for an experienced broadcast journalist / facilitator, political newsgathering, to join the news desk at Millbank on an attachment/fixed term basis. The successful candidate will act as a dedicated producer and facilitator for political correspondent Gary O’Donoghue, who is visually impaired. Applicants experienced in broadcast journalism – radio, TV and online – with a background in TV production and working knowledge of national politics will be considered. Closing date: 23 September.

BBC Look North is looking for a breakfast presenter/producer (senior broadcast journalist) on a six-month contract. The successful candidate’s main role would be between 5.30am and 9.15am, presenting and producing six bulletins of news, sport, weather and travel. After that, they would be expected to work as a video journalist or producer. The ideal candidate would be an engaging presenter with a detailed knowledge of the Yorkshire region. Both full time and part time applications will be considered. The position is based in Leeds. Closing date: 28 September.

BBC Look North is looking for a broadcast journalist on a five-month contract. The responsibilities include writing and editing stories, researching and planning items, deciding on the content of bulletins and overseeing them in the gallery, and some reporting. Applicants with good knowledge of Yorkshire and experience working in TV or multi-media news room will be considered. The position is based in Leeds. Closing date: 28 September.

BBC News Interactive English Regions is looking for a broadcast journalist, text services, to join its core team based in Birmingham. The position involves providing text news for online, Ceefax and digital text services for England, on a contract till June 2010. The successful candidate will cover stories for news indexes online as well as develop news stories and features. Closing date: 21 September.
Emap is looking for an online and offline sub editor. The role is divided about equally between production work on the magazines and on the websites and the successful candidate will also cover for the head of production on the magazines for holiday and sickness. This is not a job for a beginner – knowledge of Indesign is a must, while Illustrator and Photoshop would be useful. Experience on weekly b2b magazines would be an advantage. The candidate should also be comfortable with working with a content management system to build and maintain web pages. Closing date: 13 October.

A new media financial website is looking for an online content manager (£20-25K). The position is based in London. Experienced candidates will be preferred. The role involves managing and updating the flow of editorial content. Closing date: 22 September.

An in-house studio close to South East Kent is looking for a sub editor / proof reader (£15-20 per hour) on a contract basis. Candidates need to have experience in producing copies for advertising, DM and travel brochures. The studio is close to Dover, South East Kent. Closing date: 1 October.

A publisher is hiring for an in-house staff writer (£24-25K) to work across their portfolio of business magazines. The position involves putting together business proposals and ad-hoc projects, and dealing with the sales team as well as design and production. Experienced candidates will be preferred. The position is based in Central London. Closing date: 23 September.

A healthcare communications agency wants to hire a senior editor. The position is based in Central London. Reporting to the editorial manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the management and implementation of editorial projects. The responsibilities will include project management, writing, editing, proofreading and organising artwork of editorial projects. Applicants with a degree in biomedical or life sciences and experience in managing publishing projects will be preferred.

A medical publishing house is looking for an editor for its range of medical journals. The role involves managing all aspects of the journals, from scheduling to typesetting, designing and editing. Reporting to the editorial manager, the candidate will be responsible for 3–4 journals and their associated websites. Each journal normally publishes four issues per year. Applicants with a degree in biomedical or life sciences will be preferred. The position is based in Central London.

Minivan News, an online newspaper, is looking for an editor/journalist for its website. The position is based in Maldives. The role will be to lead a small team of journalists, provide guidance and basic training where necessary, and help towards commercialising the site. The successful candidate will have experience in either print or online journalism, a strong academic track-record and be willing to commit to long hours. Experience in multimedia is desirable.

A TV retailer is looking for a freelance editor (salary/rate: £150-200). Based in West London, the candidate will be an experienced editor with previous experience working within TV. A marketing service agency is hiring for a copywriter /content specialist (£35-45K). The candidate needs to have extensive copywriting experience in agency or journalism writing for a mix of B2B and B2C clients. The position is based in Central London and involves creating content for online communities, websites, campaign sites, research reports and opinion articles. Closing date: 5 October.

EP Vantage is looking for a pharma reporter (£25-35K) with a minimum of two years experience to generate copy on a daily basis. Only candidates with knowledge of European and US pharmaceuticals sector will be considered. An understanding of the latest developments in drug research and regulation is also required. The position is based in London.

The News of the World is looking for an assistant chief-subeditor. Candidates should have a proven track record and be able to handle news and features with flair. The company wants an academic, intelligent graduate who is highly motivated about news and media. The position is based in London.
A media company based in London is looking for a freelance web editor – social media (£28-32K) on a contract basis for 3-6 months. The candidates should have a web background specifically within social media and experience within multimedia; videos, photos, podcasts and slideshows. They will also posses some technical knowledge of Episerver, making changes in templates.

Sweet & Maxwell, a law publisher, is currently seeking to recruit an editor to join its London team to cover maternity leave until March 2010. The responsibility of the role is primarily to manage the editorial process on the books, loose leaf services, periodicals, newsletters and digital products allocated, to agreed deadlines and cost limits. The successful candidate will project manage titles and company initiatives, get involved in copyediting and proof checking and be responsible for establishing, maintaining and enhancing author relations. The position is based in Greater London – Central London. Closing date: 19 October.
