More than 130 newspapers and television stations from around the world have applied for press passes to the trial of Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito.
The trial of the pair – accused of killing Meredith Kercher, 21, from Surrey – begins in Perugia on Friday.
However, as The Observer reports, the journalists may have a wasted trip.
The judge will decide on Friday whether the media should be admitted, after Kercher’s family requested they were not.
Sollecito, though, hasn’t avoided the media glare – he has written a regular column for his hometown newspaper in Bari from his cell.
