After months of research, the Evening News, Norwich, has launched an entertainments and listings guide called 100 Magazine. The 52-page, stitched and trimmed, glossy-covered quarterfold magazine is printed on highquality newsprint and aimed at childless couples and those with children at school.
Editor David Bourn said: “Our aim is to grow sales of the Evening News by at least 1,000 copies every Friday. The idea is simple. The magazine is a weekly selection of 100 reviews of different things to do over the week, coupled with a full listings service. The design is straightforward and strong, and we believe we’ve cracked the issue of giving readers and advertisers a product with a shelflife.”
Two dummies were put to focus groups late last year and the response saw plans put into action before launch.
