100 entries vie for first PPAScotland awards

Fly Fishing and Fly Tying, Homes & Interiors Scotland and Scottish Field are among the titles shortlisted for magazine of the year at the first Scottish Magazine Awards.

Organised by PPA Scotland, the awards have seen almost 100 entries, ranging from the worlds of business and entertainment to religion and medical science, whittled down to a shortlist of 30 for the 10 categories.

The judging team was impressed by the high quality of entries, as well as the enthusiasm shown for the event. Pat Roberts Cairns, editorial consultant and former editor of Good Housekeeping, chaired a panel of eight including Mike Soutar, editorial director, IPC Media; Ally Palmer of The Herald; Redwood editorial director Christopher Ward; and Euan Jarvie, managing director of MediaCom Scotland. Full results will appear in Press Gazette next week. The full shortlists are: Best online presence: ACNR Online, Adline, The List. Writer of the year, business and professional: John Hatfield, Law Society Journal; Bill Millar, CA Magazine; Alasdair Northrop, Scottish Business Insider.

Writer of the year, consumer:Murial Armstrong, Life and Work; Paul Dale, The List; Mark Robertson, The List. Editor of the year: Mark Bowler, Fly Fishing and Fly Tying; Alison Forrest and Penny Lewis, Prospect; Alasdair Northrop, Scottish Business Insider. Customer magazine of the year: First Link 4 Parents, Historic Scotland, Scotland in Trust. Publisher of the year: Paul Grant, Bunkered; David McMurray, CA Magazine; Gordon Young, Adline. Consumer magazine of the year: Bunkered, Fly Fishing and Fly Tying, Scottish Field.

Designer of the year: Krista Kegel Dixon, The List; Iain McEwan, Homes & Interiors Scotland; Andy McGregor, Product. Business/professional magazine of the year: Prospect, Scottish Business Insider, Scottish Local Retailer. Magazine of the year: Adline, Bunkered, Fly Fishing and Fly Tying, Homes & Interiors Scotland, Product, Prospect, Scotland in Trust, Scottish Business Insider, Scottish Field, Scottish Local Retailer.
