EdI am glad that Phil Hall’s Expert Eye (Press Gazette, 15 July)
picked out Peter Zimonjic’s account of his experiences on the bombed
Edgware Road tube as being – out of the hundreds of thousands of words
written about the London attacks – “the one that will live in my
memory”.
It was, indeed, a “stark, powerful and ultimately gut-wrenching” piece of writing.
Phil
was wrong, however, to attribute it to The Sun. Peter works as a news
reporter for The Sunday Telegraph and the article first appeared in our
newspaper.
So brilliant was it that The Sun – along with many
other papers around the world – bought it and published it the
following day, neglecting, sadly, to include any clues as to its origin.
