The Yorkshire Evening Post’s Peter Lazenby and Paul Robinson were
honoured by the Yorkshire and Humberside regional TUC at its annual
meeting in York.
Regional secretary Paul Jagger presented them
with their awards and paid recognition to their work against the
British National Party.
The pair wrote a series of articles about
the views of the BNP prior to last year’s local elections. Their
features led to death threats being posted against both reporters on
extreme right websites.
Lazenby has received awards in industrial
journalism and campaigning work on environmental issues and is an
active member of the NUJ.
Robinson won news reporter of the year at the 2002 Yorkshire Press Awards.
Neil
Hodgkinson, Yorkshire Evening Post editor, pledged to continue the
paper’s campaign and expose the threat of right-wing groups.
