The editor of IPC’s Woman has resigned from her job of 10 years to spend more time with her family.
Carole Russell, who has worked at the women’s weekly for 18 years in total, announced her decision suddenly last week.
She said: “It is a wrench to leave my team who I have worked with for so long.
“In
the past 10 years I have juggled my life as a single parent with the
demands of editing Woman – which I am so proud to have held as market
leader –but it is now time for a new chapter of my life to begin.”
She
said she had recently become engaged and had decided to devote some
time to her fiancé, his three children and her daughter Lauren.
Russell,
who has been shortlisted for a BSME award six times, has led the title
to become leader of its sector, with an ABC of 527,764.
Russell’s deputy, Lisa Burrow, is filling the position until a replacement is found.
Meanwhile,
Wendy Granditer, previously of Hachette’s weekly Inside Soap, has been
hired by NatMags to become assistant editor of celebrity weekly Reveal.
Her role at Inside Soap has been taken by deputy chief sub-editor Gary Gillatt.
