Former editor-in-chief of the Press Association David Chipp proved that he can still draw a crowd when Telegraph Group chief executive Murdoch MacLennan threw a birthday bash for him at the Ritz.

Among the 24 attendees were David Frost, Mr and Mrs Paul Dacre, professor Bob Pinker, former Sun managing editor Bill Newman, Daily Telegraph assistant editor Andrew Pierce, Mark Bolland, Guy Black and former Press Gazette chief reporter Jean Morgan MBE.
