The Sunday Times Rich List 2003, published on 27 April, produced record sales this year.
In the Republic of Ireland, the newspaper logged its highest sale, while the total worldwide circulation rose by almost 20 per cent – the highest week-on-week increase triggered by the Rich List.
Sales of the paper in the Republic totalled 117,192 – a 20.5 per cent rise week-on-week.
Worldwide, 1,484,474 copies of the paper were sold – a 19.4 per cent increase on the previous week. Previously, the biggest week-on-week increase for the Rich List had been 19 per cent in 1999, when a free CD was given away with the list.
Compared with the same week a year ago (28 April 2002), the 27 April sale was up by 6.2 per cent. The figure of 1,484,474 is the highest sale since 23 June 2002, when a free CD helped the paper’s sales top 1.6m.
The 104-page 2003 Rich List was compiled by Philip Beresford and edited by Ian Coxon. The first Sunday Times Rich List appeared in 1989.
