Website joy for Sun

By Press Gazette

Sun Online now claims to be the most popular UK newspaper website.

The site features a mix of news, webchats, competitions and pagethree pictures and, according to ABC Electronic, had 3,004,487 unique users in August and 108,295,852 page impressions.

This compares with the August ABC figures for Guardian Unlimited, which show it had 75,766,353 page impressions. Telegraph.co.uk was last audited in April, when it had 28,992,516 page impressions.

The number of Sun Online page impressions has grown by 771 per cent since it was relaunched in September 2001.

Editor Pete Picton said: “Just as The Sun is number one in print, these figures confirm Sun Online’s position as the number one read on the web.

“We are introducing a new audience of young readers to the Sun brand and this is proving to be a phenomenal success.”
