Since the beginning of 2012 the crisis at News International has slowly spread from the defunct News of the World to its former stablemates The Sun and The Times.
The Times faces continued questions over the use of computer hacking in its 2009 expose of the police blogger NightJack, while 10 serving and former journalists at The Sun have now being arrested in relation to allegations of illegal payments to police and public officials.
The latest twist is the announcement from News Corp chairman Rupert Murdoch that a Sunday edition of The Sun is to launch “very soon”.
