Trinity Mirror‘s 17 paid-for regional newspapers in Scotland will be the next to relaunch online under the group-wide programme of developing newspaper-branded websites
The Hamilton Advertiser website has already been relaunched, and has attracted 20,000 unique users, the company said today. The weekly Ayrshire Post will be the next Scottish & Universal Newspaers title to see its website relaunched, followed the Paisley Daily Express. Websites for the remaining S&UN titles will launched during summer.
According to figures released by Trinity Mirror, the websites for the papers in Trinity’s S&UN division had a combined average of 223,511 unique users a month in the second half of 2007, a 46.8 per cent increase over 2006.
Like the sites previously rolled out at Trinity Mirror titles in Teesside, Liverpool, Birmingham and Coventry, the new S&UN sites will focus on increasing interaction with online readers, the company said.
S&UN has added dedicated online journalists to run the expanded digital operations. The S&UN digital team is led by head of digital Craig Brown, who previously worked at the Sunday Mail and Daily Record and online editor John Hutcheson.
