Mirror Group digital content director Matt Kelly is not longer leaving the group but has instead been promoted to become publisher of a new “digital business unit”.
As part of the shake-up announced today, David Black’s Trinity Mirror group director of digital publishing role is being axed and he has entered into consultation.
Kelly announced his departure from the Mirror after 16 years at the end of September to join Perform, an online sports video business.
Press Gazette understands that Kelly changed his mind and decided to stay after being told of the new digital publishing structure at Trinity Mirror’s national titles.
A new, yet to be appointed, managing director will head up the “digital business unit” for the national titles and its remit will be to “ensure the business has a total focus on developing new and existing digital products and services”.
It was also announced today that Dave Raywood, currently marketing director at MEN Media, has been appointed digital commercial director of the regionals division with a brief to “accelerate delivery of the division’s digital plans”.
