Trinity apologises and pays damages

By Press Gazette

Trinity Mirror has apologised and paid “substantial” but undisclosed damages to a woman branded in the Sunday Mail as a “Sex Plot ‘Barbie’.”

Solicitor David Price, counsel for Lynn Alexandra Harrison-Hamilton, told Mr Justice Eady at London’s High Court the article at the centre of the case appeared in the Sunday Mail under the front page headline “Sex Plot ‘Barbie’ Blackmails Fire Chief”.

He said it claimed that HarrisonHamilton used internet chat rooms to set up a senior fire chief and other men in positions of responsibility for blackmail, by threatening to disclose their pictures to the press.

However, he said it was now accepted there was no truth in the allegation that Harrison-Hamilton had been seeking to blackmail anyone.
