Toby Wiseman made editor of Men’s Health

By Press Gazette

Britain's biggest-selling men's magazine Men's Health has appointed Toby Wiseman as its new editor.

Wiseman was previously associate editor and will report to former editor Morgan Rees, who was promoted to creative development director of Men's Health publisher NatMag Rodale in June.

'Toby is an exceptional talent,'said Rees. 'His understanding of magazine craft is second to none, and his reading of the market is exemplary.

'I'm certain he'll flourish in his new role, and will continue the trend of long-term success that the title has enjoyed."

Wiseman joined Men's Health in 2005 as features editor and was promoted to associate editor in 2007.

He was previously commissioning editor of GQ and arts editor at Esquire, and has twice been shortlisted for PPA writer of the year.

Wiseman added: 'It is with great pride that I assume the role of editor on the country's best-selling men's magazine,'he said.

'I come armed with fresh and innovative ideas that I hope will help consolidate the title's recent achievements and reinforce the brand as the most modern and dominant force in the market."

The most recent figures from the Audit Bureau of Circulaiton showed Men's Health had an average monthly circulation of 218,368 in the first half of 2011.

While that figure was down 11.1 per cent on the same period in 2010 it remained the best-selling men's magazine in the UK, ahead of FHM (down 19.2 per cent to 155,557) and GQ (down 1.5 per cent to 118,216).
