A magazine that aims to challenge traditional methods of maternity care is due to launch in June.
Evidence Based Midwifery will target everyone involved in maternity care and will carry articles on midwifery practice, research, education, management and philosophy.
The A4 title will be published twice a year with a circulation of 35,000.
Published by McMillan Scott, it will be a sister magazine to RCM Midwives Journal and the recruitment title RCM News & Appointments.
The launch will coincide with the Royal College of Midwives’ annual conference this summer and copies will be mailed to RCM members along with the June issue of RCM Midwives Journal. Philip Hemmings, editor of the RCM Midwives Journal, is editor and Dr Marlene Sinclair is professional editor.
McMillan Scott hopes the title will challenge commonly accepted methods of midwifery that have never been scientifically tested. Hemmings said: “The Royal College of Midwives is dedicated to the promotion of research, evidence-based practice and the development of midwifery as a learning profession. This new title will be welcomed as a fundamental resource.”
