Tindle Newspapers has acquired Y Cymro, a Welsh-language newspaper founded in the Twenties, and Radio Ceredigion 2000 from North Wales Newspapers.
Sir Ray Tindle said he was delighted with the two purchases, which would fit well with his newspaper and radio interests in Wales. He thanked Russell Whitehair, chairman of North Wales Newspapers, and the company’s executives for their co-operation during the negotiations.
Whitehair said an important element of choosing Tindle Newspapers was that it had extensive experience in publishing and broadcasting, and so Y Cymro and the radio station would be in good hands.
Brian Doel, group managing director of Tindle Newspapers, said the acquisition would enable Tindle to extend its commitment to the use of the Welsh language.
