The Times has begun phasing out production of its broadsheet edition from certain areas of the country.
Last week the paper announced that it was going tabloid-only in Ireland and from Monday this week, readers in Scotland and parts of the West Country were also excluded from buying the broadsheet version.
The paper is apparently following similar tactics to The Independent, which gradually removed its broadsheet version from circulation regionbyregion before going fully tabloid in May this year.
Times Newspapers general manager Paul Hayes said: “We were pleasantly surprised by the very positive results from our move to compact only in Ireland. As a result we have decided to move to compact only in parts of the West Country and in Scotland.
