Times CD-Rom budget funds new entertainment site

By Press Gazette

Times Newspapers has set up an entertainmentbased website following the launch of Sunday Times CD-Rom supplement The Month.

No new journalists have been taken on to produce the online entertainment “channel”, which will bring together content from The Times and The Sunday Times newspapers. The site will also feature breaking news on ?lm, music, television and the arts.

According to Times Newspapers, the new website is being funded as part of the £10m investment in The Month, an interactive CD-Rom entertainment supplement which came out for the ?rst time on Sunday.

The site will be edited by Times Online features editor Hector Arthur. He said: “With the launch of The Month and the extended offering from The Times on Saturday, plus our expanding activity within ?lm sponsorship, it made sense to draw on our strengths in this area to create a unique online offering that helps our readers and users make the most of their time.”

He added: “As well as reading comprehensive coverage about the latest news from the entertainment industry, users can ?nd out when and where to watch the ?lm, book exhibition tickets, or win a VIP trip to a movie premiere.”

The site includes an entertainment shop created in partnership with online retailer MVC and it also has an entertainment listings service.
