Times and Sunday Times in web integration move

By Press Gazette

Times Newspapers has announced three appointments which signal further integration of the web operations of The Times and Sunday Times.

The managing
editor of The Times, Anne Spackman, is stepping down to take the new role of
editor-in-chief for TimesOnline.

Sunday Times managing editor
Richard Caseby is taking on the additional role of assistant editor
TimesOnline and Peter Bale (pictured), who was editorial director of TimesOnline, has
been made editorial director of digital strategy.

Times editor Robert
Thomson said: "TimesOnline readership has grown exponentially over the
past 12 months. With more than 8 million unique monthly users, the site
has a loyal audience both in the UK and internationally, an audience
that want The Times and The Sunday Times quality reporting, comment and
analysis. These appointments mark a new phase in the ambitious
development of TimesOnline."

Sunday Times editor John Witherow
said: "The Times and The Sunday Times are able to offer TimesOnline
users a depth and breadth of coverage that is unrivalled by any other
