Journalists are not usually known for cheerfully distributing the milk of human kindness.
Cynicism and world-weariness are usually more the order of the day.
So hats off to Steve White of the Western Daily Press, who has stuck his head above the parapet.
Fulfilling a promise to George Frew, his colleague who died from cancer last year at the age of 48, White is organising an ambitious fundraiser that needs 60 journalists to get up and go.
The details are on page 9. The Three Peaks challenge is no cake walk, it’s a tough task.
But the rewards – in self-satisfaction, in swelling charity coffers, and in the pub afterwards – will be great.
