Emma Hadfield, girlfriend of England and Manchester United defender
Gary Neville, has dropped a libel action against The Sun and accepted a
£75,000 libel payout at the High Court.
The court was told her
claim against the paper over a story headed “Neville Lover’s a Cheat”
was scheduled to be heard in about a month’s time. However, Rachel
Atkins, her solicitor, told the judge The Sun now unconditionally
accepted that the allegations it had made were “completely false”, that
there was “no foundation in them whatsoever” and that the article
should never have been published.
