The Regional Press Awards 2003 are open for entries. Now in their 15th year, the awards celebrate excellence in newspaper journalism around the country, rewarding the top reporters, photographers, editors and teams for their work in 2002. This year there are seven team categories, two photographers’ categories, seven categories for individual journalists and four newspaper of the year categories – from which an overall regional newspaper of the year will be chosen. Last year the Yorkshire Post scooped the top accolade. The deadline for entries is 19 May. Panels of nearly 50 judges will meet to select the shortlists, which Press Gazette will publish in June. Winners will be announced at a ceremony over lunch at the Hilton Hotel in London’s Park Lane on 4 July. An entry form is included in this issue of the magazine, or can be downloaded from the website, www.regionalpressawards.co.uk.
