The Month move

By Press Gazette

The Sunday Times has moved its regular CD-rom supplement The Month to DVD and downgraded it from monthly to six times a year.

The
interactive entertainment CDrom was launched with a £10 million
investment in August 2003 providing a preview of films, music, theatre
and computer games.

The new format will not allow readers to buy
content directly over the internet after News International has
admitted that this was not proving popular.

Instead each edition
of The Month will be playable on normal DVD players and include a
30-minute entertainment magazine programme, a whole episode of a TV
show and playable computer game demos.

Times Newspapers marketing
director Andrew Mullins said: “Although the CD-Rom format was popular
and had a loyal following, we have reached the point where more Sunday
Times readers have DVD players at home than access to CD-Rom.”

The first new edition of The Month comes out this weekend.
