More details have been uncovered about the latest redundancies at Metro.
It was announced earlier this month that the Associated Newspapers morning freesheet would be making cutbacks, and according to How Do around 10 members of staff have been made redundant in Manchester across editorial, sales and admin.
The Liverpool office has now been closed and rolled into its sister regional base.
Auckland refused to comment further and referred back to his statement last week, in which he said: ‘The impact of the economic downturn is likely to affect Metro’s advertising revenues into next year. Like most media organisations we have been busy streamlining the business to deal with a tougher market.”
