Telegraph man bags top obit-writers prize

A Telegraph obituary writer has been named joint winner of an international award.

Tim Bullamore, 42, from Bath, took the prize for best long-form celebrity obituary for a piece he wrote for The Daily Telegraph in July 2007.

The competition was organised by the Society of Professional Obituary Writers in the US and the result was announced at their annual conference in Portland, Oregon, at the weekend. He shared the prize with Sandra Martin from the Globe & Mail in Toronto.

Bullamore’s winning entry was on Natalia Karp, a Holocaust survivor who went on to become a well-known concert pianist.
