The Tamworth Herald and Kent on Sunday have been named weekly newspapers of the year in the respective paid and free Newspaper Society Awards categories.
The Newbury Weekly News scooped four gold awards including website of the year and paid-for niche publication of the year award while and Cumbrian Newspapers picked up three.
In the news journalist award the Wirral News’s Kevin core won the free category and Linda Ram of the Tamworth Herald won the paid-for category.
The Wymondham and Attleborough Mercury was named free niche publication of the year.
NS director David Newell said: ‘We have seen a rise on last year in attendance at the Weekly Newspaper Awards and a broad spread of paid-for and free newspapers shortlisted.
‘This shows the breadth and depth of quality in the diverse and expanding local media industry.’
