Autocar has appointed former racing driver and road tester Steve Sutcliffe as its new editor.
Sutcliffe has worked on Autocar for 11 years and will take over from Steve Fowler, who left to edit sister magazine What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision. Fowler is replacing Andy Clough, who has joined Classic FM.
“My dream was always to test cars for Autocar,” said Sutcliffe. “It is the definitive car magazine and it’s an enormous honour to be picked as editor. I can’t think of a better job for a car enthusiast.” Sutcliffe is well known in the world of motoring for his string of successes, including three victories in the 2000 TVR Tuscan Series and class pole in the 2001 Nurburgring 24-hour race. He has also raced in the British Touring Car Championships and driven two Formula 1 cars.
Richard Bremner has joined Autocar as executive editor from the Channel 4 website he co-founded, 4car.co.uk.
