The Sunday Times may hand over emails relating to Chris Huhne’s alleged speeding offence after it dropped a High Court challenge.
The Times reports that its publisher Times Newspapers had been due to challenge a court ruling today forcing them to hand over emails concerning allegations the Climate Change Secretary asked his ex-wife to take speeding points on his behalf.
It notes that in a ‘surprise development’the company has now dropped its opposition.
The emails are understood to have been exchanged between Huhne’s former wife Vicky Pryce, and the political editor of The Sunday Times, Isabel Oakeshott, the Times reports.
The Sunday Times was told to hand over the emails after Essex Police was granted a court order in October.
In an interview in The Sunday Times Pryce claimed that Huhne asked ‘someone’to take speeding points on his behalf in 2003, an allegation he denies.
