Sun feature writer Katy Weitz has resigned over the paper’s Iraq war coverage. Weitz, 27, who has been with the paper since last September, was appointed by ex-editor David Yelland.
Colleagues say she believes that politically, the paper has taken a sharp turn to the right under new editor Rebekah Wade and that she could not square the paper’s support for the war with her conscience. Daily Mirror editor Piers Morgan said he was looking at her resignation “with interest.” She previously worked for two and a half years at The People.
