Students take over running of The Comet in Stevenage

By William Turvill

A group of ten college students this week took over the running of The Comet newspaper in Stevenage.

The group’s first weekly edition went to press today after eight day’s work on the Archant title.

The students, from North Hertfordshire College, part of the Gazelle Colleges Group,  took over the running of the paper this week after being tutored by staff last week.

Of the ten, two will be now be offered a three-month paid internship at Archant Herts and Cambs.

The lead story on the 90p paper today, written by reporter Laura Burge, was about a failed bid for a free school in the area.
