Thurrock MP Andrew MacKinlay in Newsnight libel claim

Labour MP Andrew MacKinlay is suing the BBC for libel over allegations made on Newsnight.

MacKinlay, the MP for Thurrock since 1992, is claiming damages of £100,000 over the programme which went out on 30 April.

He is also seeking aggravated damages, and an injunction preventing repetition of the allegations at the centre of his claim.
