The Evening Star in Ipswich produced 12 news pages and a 32-page supplement covering the conviction of the Suffolk strangler Steve Wright.
The paper said it broke the story last Thursday using its SMS service launched last week with a one-line news flash.
Wright was given a life sentence after being found guilty of murdering five prostitutes during December 2006.
The following day chief reporter Grant Sherlock and production executive Ed Hogg spearheaded the day’s 12-page news coverage and special supplement.
According to the paper, early indications show sales have experienced a ‘major upsurge”.
Editor Nigel Pickover praised his team’s ‘magnificent efforts, both online and in print, which delivered a range of quality products across multi-media platforms”.
